CMI GW Success!

Nelson Wilson has a heart!

I spoke to him on the phone this morning & got this reply this afternoon:

Mrs. ivyalmighty,

Thank you for providing the specifics of your conversation with our
client.  We were able to confirm with Time Warner that they received your
full payment of $161.00 today.  We will now show the account as Paid in
Full.

In addition, Time Warner has taken into consideration Mr. ivyalmighty's active
duty service in the spirit of the Servicemembers' Civil Relief Act and has
advised us to withdraw the account from the credit bureaus.  We will
advise the credit bureaus electronically to delete the tradeline on his
credit report.  Please be aware that Credit Management has no control over
the time it takes each credit bureau to update their information after we
ask them to delete the item.

I've also attached a copy of the Servicemembers' Civil Relief Act, in case
it might be helpful to you in the future.  I think you'll see that it
applies to pretty specific situations and may require actions on your
husband's part to actually be in effect in those situations, but you might
want to consult with legal counsel to be certain of your options.
(See attached file: Servicemembers Civil Relief Act 2003.pdf)
I'm glad we were able to help you resolve this!

Sincerely,

Nelson K. Wilson

Mr. Wilson,

Just to follow up on our phone conversation, the payment was made this
morning by myself to Time Warner Cable at
800-892-2253, CSR named "Donna" with confirmation number #651957 given.

Thank you for helping us sort out this bill. Please let me know if you need
any more information.

Yes, NG, I could NOT have done this without you!

This was DH's ONLY remaining collection... although it's 3 yrs old, I hope it will have *some* effect when it drops off!

Re: CMI GW Success!

It was a no go! Smiley Sad

Thank you for your authorization to correspond via email!

While we certainly appreciate your situation and your desire to improve
your credit score, Credit Management has an obligation to report accurate
information to the credit bureaus about the collection accounts we've
worked.  To comply with that obligation, we notified the bureaus of your
payment in 2006, so that they could reflect that it had been paid in full
as of that time.  But, we do not remove paid items from the reports, as if
they never happened.  To do so would paint a false picture for creditors
who rely on the credit reports to make informed decisions about extending
credit.  On the other hand, if an account was placed for collection in
error (in other words, it never was a past due account, or it was not that
person's responsibility), then we would be obligated to remove it from the
credit bureaus.

In this case, the trade line on your credit report correctly shows that you
paid the amount in full, after it was placed for collections.

If you have further questions, please let me know.

Sincerely,

Nelson K. Wilson
