CMI replied

I wrote CMI a DV letter and here is their response:

"We have received your correspondence regarding your account with Time Warner Cable.  We have notified your creditor and have placed your account on hold for a period of 3 weeks to allow them time to research the matter.  You may contact them directly at the following address:"

And it gives their address.  My question is this:  should I wait and see what happens, or should I contact cable company?  There is also a dispute form attached so that I can dispute this account, which is strange, isn't that what I originally did in my DV letter????

Re: CMI replied

IMO - do not contact Time-Warner or the CA (and don't return their letter).. Check your CR to see if they have placed the TL 'in dispute' - they must by law.

Re: CMI replied

Lady Scarlet, I just checked all three CR and they have not listed as "in dispute".  I won't contact CC or return letter.  Thanks for the great advice.

BTW, what should I do if they don't list as "in dispute" after about a week or so?

Re: CMI replied

Oh geez, in checking my CRs, I noticed that there were TWO accounts that were in dispute, that I never even disputed!!!!  One is a JC Penney account, I have never had a JCP account!!!

What should I do now????

Re: CMI replied

Is it JCP reporting or a CA?

Since you have never had a JCP you can legitimately dispute as not mine if JCP is reporting (and call JCP too)  If a CA DV them CMRRR - don't waste the dispute

They have 5 days from receipt to notify the CRA - keep that report it's a violation on them.
