I dv a ca on Jul 10 and it got deleted on jul 15. I just received a validation from the collection agency today. The validation is merely a printout of my old cell phone bill in 2006. They did not show any proof that they are authorized to collect the debt and they are urging me to call them to make payment arrangements. What should i do now? Call tmobile and just pay the debt?, or pay the collection agency and hope they don't report again. I know if I call them, they will lie that they wouldn't report. This is the third collection agency trying to collect this debt. I dv the other two and they deleted because they could not validate. I know I cannot offer a pfd because there is nothing to delete, so how can I handle this? I will be applying for a mortgage in oct and it could be a disaster if they choose to report.
You must know who owns the account! If T-mobile owns it then mail them a letter asking for them to pull the account from the CA for a PIF.
Also check your state to see what the law is reguarding CAs. Do they have to be licensed or bonded, If so are they.
if they send you a printout what is the DOFD?
You can still PFD. A PFD would prevent them from reporting the CA as paid or otherwise and settle the account as well.
