Re: COMENITY BANK

If Comenity took in excess of $700 of your money I don't think you would have the same opinion.  The error on my Wayfair card is 100% on Comenity.  Their own statement refIect the error.  Comenity couldn't tie to the year end balance on my statement until I showed them how it was calculated.  Customer care offered me $110 credit to close the dispute.  So they admit the error but refuse to return the full amount and want to permanently close the dispute for $110?   I have no problem admitting it when I make a mistake just as I did on my Grandin Road card.  The problem is I have exposed them of unethical practices, although legal.  This is NOT the way a reputable corporation does business.  I'll use Amazon and Macy's as they way it should be done.

Re: COMENITY BANK

I understand this.  My issue is the my statement was incorreclty charged and it's varifiable via my statements.  Coupled with them requiring the consumer to call every month to tell them how to allocate your payment is rediculious.  If they were'n't playing a "gottcha" game they would put the options on the website and offer autopay.  If you choose to do business with them good for you.  They have stolen over $700 of my money and I will get it back.  I don't agree with their practices and for that reason I closed all of my accounts associated with Comenity.  I suppose I just have a higher standard and won't accept the unethical practice.  At the very least I will continue to make my payments until it reaches the amount they owe me and will address it with the credit agencies once it hits my reports.  It can't be held against you if its in dispute and I will be able to show the credit agencies what Comenity has done.

Re: COMENITY BANK

In excess of 15 to begin with.  Keeping in mind most had a $0 balance.  I canceled them all yesterday.  What got my attention to the way Comenity does business is when a purhase and return in the same billing cycle was handled.  It was debited and credited in the same cycle.  The next statement period the same transaction appeared back on my account as a promotional purchase referencing the same order number.  The transaction appears on every statement until it was paid off in March.  I paid for something I didn't purchase.  They will not give me my money back.  They claim it's impossible for the system to make that kind of error although it's clearly on my statements.  And then charged me accrued interest on another purchase that would have been paid off if the initial error wasn't made.

Re: COMENITY BANK

While it is unfortunate that you had this experince with Comenity, to claim that they are intentionally trying to scam you....sorry but the evidence just isn't there. At the very least it isn't typical. If you were charged for something that you didn't order than I cannot fathom how this isn't easily proven and/or rectified. Between unique order numbers, tracking numbers or even delivery confirmations (or lack of) it should be rather simple to prove that you never made the order you were charged for.

In regards to promo purchases, Comenity's policy is pretty straight forward and clearly stated. Stating that it's unethical or troublesome is honestly a matter of opinion. I'm not an accountant but even I have managed to keep from paying unexpected interest. Just because it's not the way that you would do bussiness doesn't mean that it's a scam.

Them offering you a credit doesn't mean they're admitting to anything. They probably just want you to shut up about it. When it goes to arbitration, I'm sure they'll offer nothing.

Understand you need to take the amount of the promtional financing and divide it by the amount of months you have to pay off the purchase amount.

Well yeah, how else would one do it?

Me thinks there is more to this story than what is being given. Comenity's liklihood of closing accounts if you have a bunch of them is well known but also very avoidable. Personally I've not yet had a problem with Comenity Bank.

+1 Agreed.

To avoid any issues with Comenity, just maintain low a UTIL% and don't apply for a lot of cards within a short period of time. Most importantly, don't abuse the SCT! All this seem pretty reasonable to me. Smiley Wink
