CRA is not validating my account

I have an account on my credit report that is being reported as one 30 day late from GEMB/HSN.  I continually call the number listed on the credit report and they say they cannot find the account number that is listed and they cannot find any account that  matches my social security number. I disputed it and equifax sent me a statement saying they verified it.  Again I called GEMB and they cannot find the account.  Please help,  I want this off of my credit report

1.  Send the OC (original creditor) a DV (debt verification) letter. Send it CMRR (certified mail, return receipt).

The OC has 30 days to furnish proof it's yours.

2.  If you have not received an appropriate response within 30 days, follow up another letter.

You don't DV the OC. There is an OC letter that you can send them, but they don't have to respond to the letter.

Perhaps you can get something in writing on their letterhead, next time you call and they can't find anything matching your SSN.
