CREDIT REPORT of MARRIED COUPLES

If the lady messed up with a credit, does the gentlemen suffer too? Or do they get reported to their own file only?

Re: CREDIT REPORT of MARRIED COUPLES

I sure hope not!

DH would fear my wrath!!

That would all depend on if you have joint accounts? It does have on my reports DH's name, although we have no credit together.

If the card was only in her name, it's only on her report.

If the husband and wife were joint cardholders, it will go on both reports.

If the card was in her name, and he was only an AU (authorized user), it will not go on his report.

If the card was in his name, and she was only an AU, it will go on his report.

Re: CREDIT REPORT of MARRIED COUPLES

That is reassuring, considering I did get my ex's mess on my cra's, but was a long time ago. (None were joint either)

So far, I refuse joint or au with DH at this point. His UTI is 98%. Has no self control over shopping. I'm about to put all  his cc's through the shredder. Smiley Tongue

Re: CREDIT REPORT of MARRIED COUPLES

This is a really good reason for married people to keep their credit absolutely separate! Mortgages being the exception.

Also, if for any reason he ever had to declare BK (certainly hope not), you will still have good credit, and you can keep the family finances going while he digs out.
