I have been researching on this board, but most topics seem to be a couple years old. I am just wondering how have they been lately? I called them directly about disputing an item on my equifax and I was able to get some one on the line immediately and she filed the dispute quickly. now how long do you think it will take?
Thanks,
You filed a dispute orally? How did you communicate the required documentation of your reasons for disputing the accuracy of the information?
I would have done it in writing by way of a direct dispute under FCRA 623(a)(8), thus affixing their staturory dates for completion of investigation of your dispute.
It is possible to start the dispute process with Equifax over the telephone. However, nothing really happens until you send in the documentation that they require to investigate your claim. If you provided the CSR with an email address, you might get a message with a request for the required information. If not, you'll receive a letter from them. It ends up taking more time than writing to them from the start.
She asked me all the general questions on the phone and she said she could put in the dispute over the phone. I've disputed online before and never had to submit any paper work. She asked me the reason why I was disputing it and I said it wasn't mine.
I just called to ask how to dispute with them because equifax keeps directing me to them since I've moved.
