CSC Credit Services requesting for my SS Card and Drivers License

Well, the title says it all. CSC Credit services  are the one acting on behalf of Equifax in the state of Illinois. They had help me resolve couple of dispute on my Equifax report before.

 I just made few new dispute on their website and discovered that there was a mistake in the  address I submitted. I realized the mistake after the submission and I had to print out the dispute and mail the corrected address to them afterward.

Today, I receive a letter from CSC Credit service (EQ) asking me for a copy of my  Social security card and driver's license/Lease Agreement.

Is it a good idea to send them such sensitive information?

Whenever you write to the CRA's they will require a copy of your DL and SS Card for "positive ID" and address verification.  So yes, you will need to send it if you want them to do anything.

Besides it's not like they don't have your SS# already. I suppose you could send your DL and mark through the # - don't see why they would need that if they can see your name and address...but who knows anymore with these CB's. They are worse than the government.

My DL has my photograph on it, and beside the address on it is that of my previous apartment. I don't want to mail my picture to them. Will a W2 tax form  and a copy of my SS card be sufficient? I may check if DMV will be willing to change my DL to indicate my current address.

You can always send them a "crappy" copy of the DL, if you are skittish about sending them your picture.

We have disputed a few things direct with TU and have never been asked to provide this.
