Does anyone know if you can place a security freeze on your TeleCheck consumer profile?
I've tried calling the number on my report (1-800-366-1435) but I keep getting the following message: "Not available in my area". I also called their 1-800-366-2425 but it's just an automated response with no mention of security freeze.

Update: Yes, you can place a security freeze with TeleCheck.

It looks like you can file a dispute but there doesn't appear to be any kind of security freeze listed on the site. There is a number to call for fraud/identity theft/forgery, so if that is the reason you are requesting the security freeze, you could try that number.


I tried those numbers and it's the same automated response.

No, I'm pretty sure you can't place a freeze on Telecheck. It's not a credit reporting agency, it authorizes written checks for merchants, telling the merchant if the check is good and whether to accept it as payment. Placing a freeze on Telecheck would be like trying to put a freeze on the credit card processing system that tells the merchant the CC is in good standing and the issuer will accept the transaction.
I was under the impression TeleCheck was like ChexSystem (they do offer a security freeze). I guess I'll have to write to them because their phone system doesn't work in my area.
