Capital 1 DV question

I disputed a capital one account on my credit report on the internet, it came back valid, however when I sent a PFD to them, I got back a letter from Cap1 requesting a bunch of information including my SS#, and the full account number. I do not have the full acct# since I only have the one from my CR which is incomplete.

Any idea where I can go from here? Can I DV? If so when they send a letter asking for more personal info what do I do?

Any help please.

You can't DV an OC, like CapOne. You can only DV a CA.

Try pulling an original CR from EX or TU, for example, and see if you can't find a full number on those. I know that the reports through MyFICO will often mask the full acct number.

I've only done this once, but you might be able to send an OC letter to CapOne. Basically it is asking for info or otherwise delete. CapOne is pretty good in sending out copies of last statements, signed docs, etc. In fact, DW disputed (not recommending anyone do this) and CapOne mailed to her the copies. Sounds like they have no record of you.....[edit] if you disputed through each CRA, that is.

Re: Capital 1 DV question

Okay, I'm confused-
Capital One requests more info from me, because they don't have it, but they validated my dispute???

How can it stay on my record when the do not have the information to validate??

Typically it is one computer talking to another computer without any human involvement. I recently disputed an item that is past 7 years. I did it late on Saturday night. By Sunday the next morning at 5am it was already verified. Certainly no human interation at play there.

You could try a MOV letter to the CRA. I never sent one but maybe others could chime in. Try also searching around.
