Does anyone know what version is used ? I’ve attempted to get a CLI ( no luck ) and each score they provide is Equifax but it is always higher than the version 8 that I get on Credit Check Total. Is it a FACO ? Thx
If you're talking about the credit score tracker on the cap 1 credit cards website, it isnt FICO at all. It's VantageScore 3.0.
Let me rephrase. I have a cap one card and applied for a CLI. On their denial letter, it gives the reasons and then a score. So is this a FICO score and if so, is it a different version than 8 - I’m assuming yes since it is not the same as what I see on credit check total.
@AnonymousYou cannot go by the score that Capital One offers on APP/site. It is a FAKO score and always higher than your REAL Fico.
This statement above is not accurate. The score provided by CO is indeed a VS 3.0 score using TU data, but that has nothing to do with a FICO score. There are people that report their FICO scores 100 points below their VS 3.0 scores, while others report their FICO scores 100 points higher than their VS 3.0 scores. I am a good example to negate the above quoted statement, as my TU FICO 08 score is currently 25 points higher than my TU VS 3.0 score.

It should say somewhere on the page where the score is presented. Perhaps at the bottom in fine print it should tell you the scoring model and bureau data used. If you do not see this information, I'd simply hit up CO chat or call them and ask. It's definitely not going to be a VS 3.0 score, more than likely going to be a FICO score. Some creditors (I'm not sure if CO is one, but Chase is, for example) use their own internal scoring model. The score you are seeing could very well be a FICO 08 score, just generated at a different time than your CCT score(s) were. Creditors don't always take a new pull at the time of a CLI request and often go off of their last one on file. Perhaps their last one on file was from February (for example) and you just pulled your CCT scores a week ago in March. Hopefully this helps!
Thanks. The data is from Equifax but not what model. My 08 scores have never been as high as what they say so I’ll just assume it’s a proprietary version or some other Fico version. Thx.

They use EQ FICO 5, the Equifax version of the mortgage scores.

Do they use that version for approvals also or just for CLI?
