Re: Capital One ?

Beach123, you say you're not receiving any offers but maybe you're getting those stupid blank checks that they mail between statements?
I was told that the reason they pull my report every month has to do with mailing out those annoying checks.
(If anybody has advice on how to stop receiving those ridiculous checks, please share. I've begged Capital One to stop sending them but they just keep on coming.)

weezie,

Are you Opted Out? Not sure whether it will stop them since you have a Cap 1 card.

Re: Capital One ?

So long as they are soft pulls don't sweat it. Heck, if Cap 1 wants to do a daily soft pulls for me on all 3 CRAs, where do I sign?

Re: Capital One ?

Noah_Bodie, I did opt out with all three bureaus but, yeah, I keep receiving the checks because I'm an account holder. I've asked Capital One to stop, and they say they will everytime. But the checks just keep on coming.

If you're serious about wanting them to soft pull your reports every month, I betcha they probably will if you sign up for this same type of card.

You experts here probably already realize that Capital One has different, like, "credit categories" of cards. I don't know how to describe it. It's something I didn't know when I signed up. So the card I have is a kind of sub-primey type account. It's no Hassle Free, What's In Your Wallet deal, that's for sure. So maybe that's the difference? I know someone said they don't engage in UD practices, but maybe that's just for certain classes of cards? They amended my contract to include UD a little while ago. So, I figured the monthly pulls were a "lying in wait" sort of thing. No biggie. I dislike Capital One's customer service, rarely use the card, and pay it off in full when I do. Anyway, maybe you have to sign up for one of those type cards?

Looks like they started montly pulls about six months or so after I was approved. (They're all soft pulls, and because I usually get reports from myFICO instead of directly from the bureau, I didn't realize what was going on for a while.)
