CapitalOne

I have 2 CC with Cap1:

#1 Cap1 $800 limit (4yrs)
#2 Cap1 $5000 (6yrs), a $5 monthly fee.

I Tried to raise the credit limit and eliminate the fee of the #2 Cap1, and the account specialist says it was not possible.

He asked me some questions, which it was very interesting.
How many credit cards? I said 3 credit cards. 2 Cap1, and 1 household( I answered)
he says:"I see that your card is not carrying any balance. Are you holding the card for emergency, only?"
I said " Yes."

So, he says that it was not possible to raise my credit limit right now and to eliminate the fee that they charge me every month.

My questions are: Was all this question to analysis my account and me and to see where I was in credit? Do you thing he is lying? Should I keep calling until I get what I want? Anyone there with this kind of experience?

Re: CapitalOne

As I said in the other thread.
I intentionally paid them both off and SD'ed them for 2 months. Then I ran about 6K though them in 60 days(with 2 500 cli's this was tough), paid them down to 5% before calling.

They are using some kind of formula based on usage and payment history.

Re: CapitalOne

There is not telling how Cap 1 decides on CLIs I have heard of people who haven't used their card in frever egeeting CLIs I have heard ofsone who use it religiously being urned down.  I have heard of some after years calling to close the account beng told it would take 30days which is bull, suddenly getting CLIs and special promo announcements in the mail though they have requested the account closed.
