Cavalry falling off in Aug

Wondering how this works.. Cavalry will be the last CO on my report. It's paid, reporting 0 balance. I've heard people say they get quite a point jump when their last CO falls off...

Doesn't this contradict the other view that collections that old (at/near 7 years) don't hurt your score anymore? Which is it? Is it not hurting my score anymore, or am I going to see a point rocketship when it falls off??

Re: Cavalry falling off in Aug

Is it a charge off or collection?

A charged off account may boost scores quite a bit if it is figuring into utility and updating monthly.

I have only seen very small increases myself for collections being removed.

Re: Cavalry falling off in Aug

I would not expect too much since it's pretty old. I know I have not seen many point increases even for some that were only 2 year's old.

When my collection fell off (after 6.75 years) I got a 50+ point increase.  It was my only derog, and that was the average of 3 different CRs
The slide from grace is really more like gliding
And I've found the trick is not to stop the sliding
But to find a graceful way of staying slid

Wow!! I certainly was not so lucky. I gained at most 10 points for 4 being deleted at one time. I must be in a different scoring bucket. Short history and I have one pd collection left that is a bit over 2 yrs old.

It was the ONLY derog on any of the reports!!  And my scores were in the low 700s when it dropped off
