I've had 3 charge offs disappear from my credit reports in recent months.
Two accounts from the same lender were charged off and eventually sold off in 2024. Both accounts entirely dissapeard from my credit report a couple of months ago.
The third, a credit card account was charged off in April, sold off soon after, and disappeard last month.
I took no action and made no disputes.
That's awesome!! Has your score gone up?

Don't knock it I guess. But it is possible that they sold it and it could re-appear under a different collection agency.
I hope it stays gone. If it did, then you should chalk it up to got lucky due to a quirk or something.
^ agreed. There is potential they could reappear.
Hello,
That can happen, and it doesn’t necessarily mean the debts were forgiven. A charge-off can disappear from a credit report because the lender or debt buyer stopped reporting, the account was transferred and reporting changed, there was a data/reporting issue, or the furnisher chose to remove it. If the debts were sold, the original creditor may also stop reporting the account while the debt buyer handles MyGreatLakes account collection. Importantly, disappearing from your credit report does not automatically eliminate the underlying debt or prevent future collection activity. Keep records of the original accounts, charge-off dates, and sale/collection information, and check all three bureaus periodically.
