Charge off

Macy's was my first creditor, and after being irresponsible, it was given to collections. This was back in 2006. It was paid and comes up now as "paid, closed/ account charged off" on my credit reports. Is it better to keep it on my report because it shows it was opened in 2003, or is it better to not show up at all? The next credit i obtained was a personal loan from 2004 that is now paid, closed/never late opened in 2004. I guess my real question is: Is it worth trying to get it off of my credit reports, through a good will letter? i edited this post... it was 2006 not 2005

You can not take what I am going to say to the bank    BUT

I think that between 2005 & now   the Macy accounts are now with someone else......usually when they sell their accounts they may only sell or transfer good accounts or open ones with late payments.........remember this is just a guess

Because of this maybe your account info. was lost........If it were me I would disput with all CRAs that are reporting.
