Chargeoffs still open.

So I called today to get some account numbers of old accounts that I had missed payments on, and then paid off in full, so I could write GW letters. The weirdest thing is that 3 of the 4 accounts are still open, with a balance of zero, and a credit limit of zero. I am mailing the GW letters tomorrow, for all four. Is it hurting me to have these old accounts in bad standing still open? Would it be easier to get a GW with an open account or a closed account? I am nervous because they are all open, bu none reporting anything since 2004, when I paid everything off. And they all have a zero credit limit.. what is the deal? I don't know if it makes a difference or not either way, but maybe one of you knows. I don't want to try to get a higher credit limit on any of them, just get them off of my dang report, and my score is 518 if it matters.

Re: Chargeoffs still open.

They will report for 7 years from date of last payment before delinquency
and if you have no open credit your scores would be low..
But post a little more specific about your overall picture and the good
people here will guide you further..
