Checking account alerts/activity question

My local bank is known to pretty low tech, but I have a question about how bigger banks do alerts. For example, today I paid mortgage, and paid off the monthly balance on 2 credit cards. My checking account shows nothing - nothing pending, no activity whatsoever. In the morning at 8 a.m. it will update and show these payments as pending all day tomorrow, and will normally show posted the next day. Is this the norm, or do bigger banks show those transactions as soon as you make the payments. I love how credit cards show anything you pay in real time, and wonder are there banks that do this with their checking account apps?

If not, is this delay on the creditor?
I've tried push payments, and they are slower to show up than normal transactions.

FWIW, my bank's app is rated between 1.5 - 2 stars out of 5 on the App Store, and other review sites, so I know it sucks, but I'm trying to find out how bad! 😂

At the end of the day, if it's possible, I'd like to know the instant any payment, transaction, or anything else was made from my checking account app. Is that possible, and if so, what banks offer this.

Re: Checking account alerts/activity question

Sounds like your bank needs to invest in their tech. Even my small regional bank, 1stBank, has immediate pending transaction text message notifications for debit, ACH, and checks and shows them in the ledger on the website and the app.

I would lose my mind not having pending transactions show up right away.

FWIW, every checking or savings account I have has alerts. Some may only do email or text instead of push notifications like NFCU and BBVA do but they all have them.

Are you pulling these payments from your mortgage/credit card website? If so, I don't know of a single bank that lists pending transactions for payments made on other companies website as soon as you make them....

Yes, when I make these payments (mortgage, auto loans, credit cards etc.) nothing shows up until the next day.

In my experience that is normal. Unlike when you buy something from a merchant using a credit card (where the payment authorization is done at the time of the transaction), creditors/lenders "batch" their incoming payments and submit them once a day (which is why you can edit/cancel payments before the lender's cut off time).

Re: Checking account alerts/activity question

I guess I didn't read very well when I responded. It is true that ACH isn't processed in real time. Push payments not showing pending is not necessarily unusual either if the bank doesn't submit them the same day. The point remains if you're not getting transaction alerts as these things DO process though.
