Checking my FICO score

We recently paid everything off, and I have signed up for an Equifax alert thing which reviewed and found out that all the creditors had reported the payoffs and new balances.  I want to check my FICO score to see if it has gone up, but I don't want an inquiry to lower the score.  What a freaking Catch-22.  Any advice would be much appreciated.  Thanks.

Re: Checking my FICO score

Checking your own score does not  change the score.

Good news!
The slide from grace is really more like gliding
And I've found the trick is not to stop the sliding
But to find a graceful way of staying slid

Re: Checking my FICO score

Great, so would it be too soon (3 months) to expect/hope for a jump?

Re: Checking my FICO score

FICOs can change daily as a result of activity either on your part or others with Permissable Purpose.

Check them.

Re: Checking my FICO score

If you plan on checking your score more than 2 times it can be the same price or less to sign up for score watch which will email you every time your score changes. Basically daily score checks.

Re: Checking my FICO score

I just signed up for score watch.  My credit score is a paltry 562.  Some of the creditors have not reported for June, so hopefully that will have some impact (some of the ratios are still too high). There is also a too recent 30 days late, so maybe since we paid the entire balance, they creditor might remove that (it's the first and only one with them)?   I really want to take care of this and do it right.
I guess it takes careful monitoring and follow through.

Re: Checking my FICO score

As far as that late, make sure you send them a GW instead of just hoping someone will do it.   You'll stand a much better chance if you ask them.
