Hello wonderful people!
I was reported to Chexsystem in either March or April of 2005 by Washington Mutual. Since this scary and embarrasing saga unfolded, I was denied membership by CCCU & Alliant CU's. On Friday August 27, 2010, I requested my Chexsystem's consumer report online. It is my understanding from asking other people about this experience, and going directly to Chexsystem website was that you are only on Chexsystem for five years. Now let's go back a little, I paid WAMU the balance back in June of 2007. They sent me a letter and all that good stuff. But that's it, I didn't follow up with Chexsystems afterwards. And mind you, I was denied CCCU membership in June of 2007 & Alliant in May of 2009. Now, here is my question(s):
I would think by now, I am off of Chexsystems. Since I have other bank accounts, it has not been a real issue for me.
Any help is appreciated on this question.
Thank you and have a very pleasant day.
Cory
Chexsystems does say it will drop records after 5 years. Sometimes they need a helpful nudge.
My suggestion would be to ask for another Chexsystem report and review it. If you need to nudge Chexsystems to update (ie - drop records 5 yrs or older), then do so, get a new report before applying elsewhere for a new account.
Not all banks pull Chexsystems.
Good luck!
Thanks for your response!
I have ordered my Chexsystem report Friday 08/27/2010. Hopefully, this week I will be able to review it.
I'm just thinking by now, I should be fine. I will not apply for another account yet though.
