Child Support and Equifax

TU and EX seem to be OK as far as it goes although I wonder why child support shows on a credit report anyway. Equifax seems to think I owe 4400 Dollars per month. This is not listed in derogatory or delinquent accounts. Any ideas how I should proceed? Current balance and past due show zero. Might be a problem if a mortgage lender pulled this file.

WOW!! is that really listed as 4400/mo or total balance?  I would dispute that one.  Don't know why it would belisted if there is no collection action going on.  I would dispute the amount but if you have any bad history on that accoutn be careful abuot disputing it.  They could update it correctly, missed and late payments and all.

Re: Child Support and Equifax

4400 per month Brammy. If I miss the sheriff comes knocking. They don't play in NJ. Only Equifax is reporting that way. I have two revolving and one installment payment monthly. EX and TU have the three pays totaling one payment on my Truecredit while Equifax is adding the bogus child support number. Are you acquianted with the product and the line item I am talking about? What am I disputing it shows no balance and no lates. Not even listed in negative accounts just shows up along with the credit card the store lines of credit and the car payment so it is not threatening I just don't want to acknowledge that as a monthly payment to a lender.

Re: Child Support and Equifax

Three kids one has dropped off and while I do OK my support isn't quite that high on a monthly basis. It has me befuddled. Is this a positive tradeline of sorts or negative? No lates no misses since 1997.

Not sure I guess... I didn't realize child support reported unless of course you got a judgement against you.

I would dispute that the amount isnt correct does it show up in the top where it has your monthly payment amount?  How is it classified?  Before disputing it, call the child support office and ask them why it is showing up like that and ask them to correct it.

Re: Child Support and Equifax

The date listed by the bureaus is the date of the last COLA adjustment in 2005. I agreed to continue with our agreement in exchange for the ex to agree to not accept any further COLA increases imposed by the State. That is why this item is confusing.

Re: Child Support and Equifax

Thanks for bearing with me. Listed as an open account, not revolving or installment. High credit, credit limit, past due ,actual payment amount all show zero. Last active, date opened, date reported and last payment all show 5/2005. Scheduled payment amount is listed as $4390. I don't get this at all.
