Like many, I monitor ck. I received a very significant jump and was excited for all of a few minutes. Of course I checked my fico and actually lost a few points and was like ok. So I called Transunion and we went over 1 moment on my credit...I only had 1 question...do their records show that I opened a new discover acct? They listed off everything they saw but my discover was not on there. My discover was 4 days old at this time. So I go back to ck and ask where they got their info...they state from transunion. I let them know that in talking to transunion that they did not see the acct as of yet and I wanted to know if they could prove to me that their info came from tu.
Ck has since quit responding in our email thread.
I guess I am confused and maybe concerned that ck says they get info from a reporting source whereas that source says they havent a record of my new info yet.
Am I missing something here?
If your concern is that your CK and MyFICO scores don't match, they use different score models. CK provides VantageScore 3.0 while MyFICO provides various FICO scores. If your concern is that CK is showing your new Discover on their TU report before it has actually reported to TU, that would be something specific to CK so if their customer service isn't willing to help you I'd find a new source for your TU CR's.

I read this as being concerned that your new account wasn't showing yet - give it a month or so - it's usually a few days after the statement cuts that it shows up.
I don't see any reason to be concerned that CK isn't using Transunion (they use Transunion & Equifax and are pretty well established).
You can go to annualcreditreport.com and pull your official Transunion report if you want to see what is on it and compare it to what you are seeing in the TU section of CreditKarma.
My curosity is that how can ck say they get info from tu when tu says they don't have the info?
I don't consider CK as a reliable source of data as they have my DH totally believing their data and when denied an application . . . DH is upset with CK. Each CRS has a free monitoring and I login to TU, EX and EQ every week to check my information and inquiries (HPs and SPs).
Perhaps the TU rep you spoke with was misinformed. You should check your full free report from annualcreditreport.com as mentioned above and see if the Discover account is there.
Listen, when it comes to reporting, nothing ever makes logical sense. Don't drive yourself crazy. Always give it a few weeks and it'll always flesh out and make sense. Zooming in on these bureaus with a fine tooth comb will make you crazy.
