Closing Chase Slate affect FICO?

I have had a Chase Slate for 14 months, has no rewards so I only use it every 3 months to keep it from being closed due to inactivity.

I started getting credit cards in April 2013, I got slate Feb 2014, so this is not my oldest line of credit at all.

If I were to call Chase and close Slate, at what point do I mention transfering the 1000 limit to my freedom or amazon card (Each 2000 limit)

Just call them, tell them you want to close the Slate and transfer the CL to a different card.  I'm about ready to do the same thing, really have no further use for the Slate card.  Chase reportedly is very accommodating when it comes to such transactions.

Re: Closing Chase Slate affect FICO?

I'm about to do the same. I want a chase card but not at 22%. This was my first card.
the CSA said the only way to "lower" my chase freedom was to move the CL to my chase
amazon , close my chase then re-apply for a new one (on the same call if I like).

I think I'll wait until I need an Intro APR again. I have heard ppl closing and re-opening a new
Chase got the intro offers again.

Chase is begging me to open checkign with them with 200 cash back.. hmmmm

I also like that amazon lets you pay with Chase rewards directly on amazon.com

whoops we forgot to reply to your main question.

Closing a card does NOT effect your AAoA (avg age of accts) per this forum as it reports
for 10 years as a positive item. This would work if you are moving your Slate Credit Line to your Amazon card
since your utilization wouldn't increase because your credit line from chase remains the same.
