Collection Agencies-General Question

Hi all,

I just wanted to know if  all collection agencies reported to the CRAs? I received a collection notice via mail but i do not see this collection on my credit report yet. I am trying to figure out how long I have before they CA reports to the CRAs. Is there a timeframe for this? i intend to deal with the collection but just cant right now....I am working on credit repair already so I am tapped out right now!

Re: Collection Agencies-General Question

No, not all CAs will report to the CRAs.

Sometimes on the dunning notice it will say if you pay within a certain amount of days they will not report.  Others will report after you pay.

Re: Collection Agencies-General Question

If you know the debt is yours, and you are comfy skipping the DV process, you can write a pay to not report letter. Similiar to a PFD letter....

You could DV them just to get a little extra time, but I guess I would be nervous if they reported in the meantime, but I believe during a DV, the CA must cease collection activity, which I would think could be limited to reporting of the TL, but I'm not sure about this.

Not all cA's report to all three, some report to just one or two or all three. Some will not report at all, but thisis probably the minority here.
