Collection Agency Problems

I survived a nasty divorce a few years ago.  From this, there were quite a few medical bills that never got paid and now I have 3 of these with the preverbal "collection agency from he11."  My divorce decree states that my ex is responsible for her medical bills prior to the divorce which happens to be two of these three collection items.  The agency REFUSES to acknowledge the legal documents on this matter period.

I have also tried to get a PFD for the one that is mine but they absolutely refuse to cooperate.

What options do I have at this point??

Thanks,
ptf

Have you tried calling the OC and seeing if they'll pull the accounts back from the CA and allow you to pay them, then they can instruct the CA to delete the account.

As for your ex's accounts, go to the OC and show them the papers and explain what is going on. See if they'll pull those accounts back from the CA.

Re: Collection Agency Problems

Thats funny, I just hung up the phone with the OC!!!  No, they won't do anything on the bill I owe.  I will just start working the legal angle on that one.

I sent copies of the divorce decree to TU and Equifax.  Experian's online system did not wan to let me attach anything to it.  I will mail copies directly to these jerks and see what happens.

Re: Collection Agency Problems

It is my understandin that the CRAs do not go  by divorce decrees......I have a friend that went through  this,  The judge stated that whoever lived in the home had to pay all utilities (they were in his name)  She ran all the bills up until they were ready to be shut off & then put them in her name.

In order for him to get them off his CR  was not easy. He filed suit for and received a judgment against her.   He used his divorce papers as proof that she owed him. Now he may never see the money BUT he can renew that judgment & it will be on her CR for over 20 years.

As to the bills that you are talking about.......what is the DOLA on each  and what is your SOL?

Keep in mind that IF they are hospital bills....some states do not have SOL on hosp. bills BUT they do on other medical.

If past SOL they are usually more ept to accept a PFD

Send a DV to any CA reporting     CMRRR

Re: Collection Agency Problems

I have never done anything with these bills.  The CA reports them everymonth.  The bills are only two years old.  Also, the CA is the most uncooperative "person" I have every met.  I think he is a small time guy in Midland, Texas.  They go by the name R&R Collections.  He list three accounts one of which is truely mine.  I have offered a PFD on this one to no avial.  He list all three as JOINT accounts with my EX.

Any help at here is appreciated
