Collection Question

Small nitty question.... I have one collection that is being carried on all three services.  The bill is for $48 and is two years old.  This was a dispute with a lawn fertilizing company.  My scores are currently 663,675,672.  Wondering what the benefit of paying off that amount would be if any.  The dispute was ugly so I doubt that they would agree for a removal for payout.  Will be applying for a loan in the spring where I will need 650-675 so I am hovering in the range.  Currently working on paying down utilization as right now I am at 90% and should be in the 60% range in the spring.

Thought on the collection....thanks

Re: Collection Question

I think you have to ask yourself a question. I mean seriously, is $48 worth any aggravation? There are two benefits to paying this off: (1) no matter the dispute, if you owe it, pay it. (2) With a paid collection vs unpaid on your CRs, your scores will increase once your utilization is below 29%. Hope this helps. GL to you,.

I want to tell you that you should be embarrassed for the $48 collection question, but that would be unfair and insenstive. (and not something I would approve of anyway). But you get my point. Call the collection agency and offer pay for delete.  If no luck, just pay it off.  A $48 collection balance on your report for 2 years?  You can do better. There is a chance that you could see a bump up in your score if the collection is removed. Getting the utilization down will be your game changer;  win strategy is;  pay collection + lower utilization.  You could see yourself in the 700 club soon!
