Not only have they re-aged this stupid account, but the credit card only had a $1500 credit limit and from the time Providian placed it for collection at $2k, it ballooned to over $3k when Midland took it. What the heck did they charge? I am afraid to write Midland and ask them for an itemized account for fear they might take it as an admission of liability. These people are awful!

The first thing you need to do is read, read, read, and then read some more.

Especially read the threads stickied at the top of the forum.

Find some posts discussing DV (debt validation). There are many, many threads on this board discussing collection agencies and how to deal with them when they appear on your reports.

Writing Midland and asking them for an itemized account cannot be construed as an admission of debt.

I know I sent Midland a DV, twice. They answered with a request for information, which I did not answer. They are still on my report but have not reported in months.

Re: Collection Re-Aging Issues- HELP

When I disputed the information, I got the same form letter from them requesting more information from me.  I never responded either.  I don't dispute that I owe the $1500, but I definitely dispute owing $3100!  That's crazy.  I just don't want the account to sit on there for another 7 years just because they purchased it in 2007/2008, when it was due to fall off in 2010.

Re: Collection Re-Aging Issues- HELP

If you disputed online you should have got a different report that shows more info. And I was incorrect about the open date. All of mine show the day the account was originally opened with the original creditor.

Frustrated01,

The person that posted last (before mine) was correct for the TU CBR's......if you dispute it will show you a much more detailed TU CBR..........it will actually say the on the last each of your CA's & CC's accounts, as shown below on mine, which is a wonderful thing......I wish EX & EQ did that:

Estimated date that this item will be removed:    12/2009

I TOTALLY feel your frustration!!!  I too have a "charged off" Providian account that Asset Acceptance LLC purchased........on my TU CBR it says Date Opened 6/30/2004 (which is the date they the CA opened it not the last date of activity on the original creditors, Providian, account, which for me was 9/2003.....close to yours!  I only know that because when I went to dispute something else on my TU CBR I noticed the Disputed TU CBR has much more detailed information, see example below:

Date Opened:     05/2001
Date Closed:       09/2003
Date Paid:           10/2003 (this is basically the date that the CA purchased the bad debt from Providian as I didn't pay it off)

I really hate to give you bad news...........but I doubt it is the "aging" that caused the score drop it is more than likely the CA account showing up on your account that caused it!  And, when I tried to dispute this on my TU CBR it came back valididated, hopefully you will have more luck.

Midland will have to remove their information as will Providian from your credit report "7" years & "3" months after the DOLA (Date Closed on the TU CBR), as you see above my Date Closed on the Providian Account was 09/2003 and on the very above the date the account(s) will be removed from my CBR is 12/2009............7 years and 3 months later!

GOOD LUCK & KEEP US POSTED!  =)
