On Feb 12th, a collection showed up on my credit report which was not valid.
My Experian score that day went from 712 to 686.
On July 22nd after working diligently for months to get it removed, it finally
was removed completely (not marked paid......disappeared!)
My score remained at 686.
This is absolutely bizarre. Can someone explain how an unwarranted collection
could steal 30 points from my score, but when it is removed, it doesn't affect
my score whatsoever????????
It sounds as if you are pulling a FAKO score, which does you no good. They can vary widely and have no rhythm or reason. From my understanding, the only place you can pull your true EX score is from PESCU (do a search to see how to join if interested). I would hazard a guess that your true FICO score went up to a level near where it was before.

Ditto. Ignore the score. In my experience with some EX FAKOs (what we call non-FICO scores) is that they don't always update daily despite the service saying as such. I've used services like freecreditreport.com and creditchecktotal and found they don't deliver as promised. But it doesn't matter anyway and I don't care about the score because lenders don't use it anyway. It's a gimmick.

I have never heard of FICO issuing a credit score that was not based on a pull of your CR as of the time of the requested score. If others are generating scores that are not based on your current CR, that is simply unconscienable!
