Collection letter ...

Surprise!   I found a letter from collection agency on this past Friday after I came home.  I called the number on the letter, and rep told me I have not paid the 2004 State Tax.  I did myself online through Turbo Tax.  Ouch!   I asked about this will hurt my credit history and score, rep said "Not yet" call back on Tuesday at this number ____________.    What this mean ... "Not yet"  ...  it will be, if I don't pay ... I think.   I definitely call them tomorrow and PIF whatever I owe to them ASAP.

Does anyone have experience in same/similar situation?   What is your advice?   Thanks!

Re: Collection letter ...

They will report 30 days after you get the letter....if you pay within that 30 days period...they will not report...I say...PAY THEM!!!!...if you know it's yours...

Re: Collection letter ...

Thanks slyhouse!!   I will do that if it is mine.

Do you know does they accept the payment by CC?   or it must be a check/money order?

Re: Collection letter ...

When you call..they should be able tell you...but I would pay with something I can track back..if anything comes back up in the long run...I'd rather pay by check/credit/debit...make sure to get a letter...making sure they will delete...and tat you have PIF...
