Collections after 18 years?

Hi all,

I hope you can assist.  I've received a letter from a CA on an account that went delinquent back in the early 90s.  Can they add to my credit report?  They are calling at least 10 times/day.  This appears to be a second rate CA, and I'm pretty sure they are in violation of the FCRA.  Any advice?  Should I call them and ask for validation?

Thanks!

Re: Collections after 18 years?

No, they cannot report on your CR because 7 years is the limit. The SOL is up too, so they can't sue you. But they can try to collect the debt, in hopes that you will pay it to get them off your back. If you ask them to stop calling you, they have to do it.

Is this collection agency AFNI?  They have a habit of going after very old accounts - over 20 years sometimes.
