Collections called but not reported on my credit report????

HI everyone,

Here's the story. I moved from GA to NY a couple of months ago. While I was still a resident I ran a couple of tolls and owe $76.50 to the Georiga State Toll Authority.

I did not get a violation notice from GA because I moved to NY and I guess mail forwarding did not pick it up. Regardless, I received a letter and got a call from NCO Financial Systems, Inc. with regards to the account. NCO is obviously a debt collector. I told them my story and said I had no problem paying the $76.50 but want to make sure I am not dinged on my credit report. The first said they do not have my Social and nither doese the State of GA and also that the State of GA toll authority will not report to the credit agencys. BS I'm thinking.

I did contact the State of GA and they said that I have to deal with NCO. Also, when speaking with NCO I said " You are correct, I do not see anything on my credit report but can you provide me with a letter saying it will not be reported if I pay in full?" She said they can't and it hasn't hit my report and again the State of GA toll authority does not report to the credit agencys.

FYI, I used Freescoresandmore.com just now and paid for my report. Clean.

Thoughts and suggestions on how I should handle this?

Thank you everyone!

I'd not be to concerned since it hasn't reported yet however to be on the safe side I'd negotiate it as a PFD so you have in writing a letter stating removal - that way in case it does report you just dispute with CRAs providing that as proof to get it deleted.

They have the right to report if they so choose.  If you push for written promise as a condition for paying, you do so at your peril.

It may then provide incentive for them to report in order to apply additonal pressure.

You would then be forced into a PFD situation.  The CRA is not apt to delete should you notify them of a PFD agreement, as PFD is contrary to their written policy.

I would pay and rely upon the fact that once the debt is paid, they no longer have a business interest in reporting their collection.

Re: Collections called but not reported on my credit report????

Something similar happened to me with a parking ticket in Miami, FL.  A collection agency sent me a letter, and I paid it the same day online.   I called the collection agency the next day, and their robo-service told me the account was paid in full.  That was two months ago, and I haven't seen anything on my reports.  I think you'll be fine if you pay it, but I wouldn't wait to do so.
