Comcast-Central Collections, Verizon-ANFI, Inc.

Both Comcast ($79) and Verizon ($439) have listed accounts as a collection with all three CRA.  AFNI,inc has refused a PFD of course, and Comcast only has Robots answering their phones.  I disbuted the entries with the CRA's and filed a PFB for both.  Next step is PFD, if that doesn't work then GW with settlement.  I just hate the fact I would have to be paying something I already have paid.

To top it off AFNI,inc. listed the collection as new starting August 13th 2007 from a Febuary 3rd 2002 Collection I already paid before it was a collection, the removal date is right Feb 2009 but it's still treated as a new collection and hit my FICO for 70 points.

The Comcast thing I've been dealing with since August of 2005, now that I've found this forum I've got a few things I can work with (other than the robots reading cue-cards).

No questions for anyone, you've all done an awesome job of stickying what's is important and posting enough experiances of what works and with who you get results.  I just wanted to start a thread to help me keep track, and maybe give some light on what works for me.

BTW: I started in 2002 with FACKO score's of EQ: 420, TU: 470, EX: 430 (I didn't know the differance between FACKO and FICO untill January of this year) and up untill the 13th of August 2007 I had moved my FICO up to EQ: 676, EX: 636, TU: 638 (the only reason I didn't hit 700+ is because of the new accounts, and the number of hits from shopping for CC's)

Today my FICO is EX: 578, TU: 560, EQ: 540 and that was all because of AFNI,inc's false report.....

Edit: AFNI to ANFI,inc (I read things backwards sometimes)

Re: Comcast-Central Collections, Verizon-ANFI, Inc.

Thanks, I sent them (PFB) out today August 16th, 2007.  I only included mailing address and phone number, if I don't get a response that way I will add my e-mail with a second round (honestly I forgot to put my E-mail on them).

I'm drafting DV, GW, and PFD letters just in case.  I've got time (it's not like I'm going out to buy a house tomorrow), I figure every 30 days hit them with something.

Redamagon:  I would just keep at it.  People make mistakes (expecially drones working phone lines), I would hit them all (Verizon and the Collection Agency) with everything.  Someone is bound to bite it hook line and sinker.

Re: Comcast-Central Collections, Verizon-ANFI, Inc.

I recieved a phone call from Executive Customer Care of Comast at 8:15am this morning in response to my PFB, shortly after I recieved a faxed letter stating "I have offered to collect the remaining balance for account xxxxx and I can assure you I will have our Collections Department update your credit reports indicating the debt had been cleared".  The guys at lunch right now but I will be paying this and be done with it by the end of the day.

Aparently they had been sending the remaining balance to my old address even though I had service at a new address.  He agreed and even pointed out it's Comcast's policy to deny service to individuals with past due balance, but I have had service continuously and they should have contacted me before sending it off to collections.

It was my debt, I didn't know about it, if it get's removed fine but at least I got it paid to Zero through the OC and they don't report to the CRA's.  I can send a DV to the CA (the one reporting to the CRA's) and they wont have records because the Debt doesn't exist anymore. Then I can get it removed that way.

Planetfeedback was a good start for comcast.

Re: Comcast-Central Collections, Verizon-ANFI, Inc.

Tuscani~  After paying the balance on Friday I recieved a letter in the mail on Saturday from Comcast stating their records show the debt was paid upon disconnection of service.  Nothing about it being late, a collection, nothing.......I quote the Movie Jay and Silent Bob when I say "BONG!!!!"   If the collection is not deleted by the Collection Agency I will just send a copy directly to all three CRA's with a letter stating that the Collection should be removed because I paid it upon disconnection....

Now Verizon hasn't responded (I'm assuming it's because the amount of complaints they recieve are so high they may need a few days) I'm going to give them untill Friday of this week then I'll send another PFB.

Now I have 3 Paid Judgements listed on my Experian (one is listed twice), I know the Original Delinquancy Listing Date got reset when I was sued (if I knew SOL had expired I would have shown up for court and agrued it) but I'm going to send GW letters.  Not sure who to send them too though, should I send it to the courts?  Or the OC?  Guess it couldn't hurt to send it to both.  Or just leave it alone cause they are only listed on Experian.

George - I have a similar issue with Comcast. I am in NY and Comcast tells me they have no offices in NY. Do you have a reliable contact address, email, or phone for Comcast?

Thanks
