Comcast adding a false collection to my report

Comcast adding a false collection in Oct19 to my report cause all 3 scores to drop about 75 pionts.  Disputed and was removed score still has not gone up to where it was and I am pissed.  I have no late payments and my CCU is at 51% and going down steadily monthly with in 2 months should be around 28% .  I know CK is a joke but there is such a huge differance between CK(580tu , 580ex)  and myfico(660 accros all 3). What one is close to being right, this credit **bleep** is a joke.    You call the credit companies and they are completly useless so what I am to do?

Also I do I remove this crap: You have a serious delinquency or derogatory indicator, public record and/or collection on your credit report

I have zero delinquency or derogatory indicator, public record and/or collection.  This crap is from that false comcast BS.

The MyFICO scores are the ones to concern yourself with. They’re what the vast majority of lenders use. Where do they stand now in relation to what they were before the collection occurred? Don’t concern yourself with the VantageScore numbers from CK. They vary wildly because the algorithm scores and weights factors differently than FICO does. They’re basically irrelevant from a lending standpoint.

Breathe.

Credit Karma gives Vantage 3.0 scores which are used by nearly no one.  Worthless numbers.

Fico scores are what matters.

Pull your actual credit reports and see what is actually reported.  If something is reported incorrectly, contact the CRAs and get it fixed.  It might take a little time, but its very doable.

Good luck!

Fico 8 6/01/25: EX 798, EQ 807, TU 793.
Fico 9: EX 812 04/15/25, EQ 804 04/08/25, TU 792 02/15/25.

Hi and welcome to myFICO

Okay, you have identified one of the culprits. So save yourself the added stress by dismissing the CK scores completely. CK is great for monitoring and not for FICO scores. Keep your focus on your FICO scores, because these are the scores the majority of lenders uses.

Re: Comcast adding a false collection to my report

As for pursuing removal of what you consider to be inaccurate reporting.....

Parties who report to CRAs cannot initially be sued by consumers regarding the accuracy of their reporting.

FCRA 623(c) protects furnishers from private civil action by consumers regarding the accuracy of their reporting, thus promoting their willingness to voluntarily report information to the CRAs.

The consumer must first file a dispute with the CRA contesting the accuracy of the reporting.

If the outcome of the dispute is verification of accuracy of the disputed information, the consumer then has the right to bring their own civil action based on lack of a reasonable investigation of the dispute, rather than bring civil action for having per se reported inaccurate information.  See FCRA 623(c).

The procedure is thus to first file a dispute that includes your basis for considering the collection reported by the debt collector to be "false."

If the dispute is then verified, you then can pursue private civil action and get review by the courts.

You can also file a complaint with the CFPB for admin review, but the CFPB cannot require the removal of the collection without bringing their own civil action on your behalf.

Filing a CFPB complaint will sometimes cause the voluntary removal, and is worth a try, but the CFPB rarely brings civil action based on single consumer complaints.
