Come on Equifax, Stop Smoking the Crack Pipe!

I had 2 Cap 1 accounts showing on my Equifax report.  One of them was an open account that is in perfect standing.  The other was an old charged off account from 2003.

I disputed the old one, because it was showing some wrong dates of activity.  Guess what?  I went to the post office today and they sent a letter to me.  They said they checked with Cap 1, and they were going to delete the account.  As you can probably guess, they deleted the good account that I did not dispute!

Has anyone had this happen to them?  How did you handle this?  This is frustrating.  I appreciate any help.

Thank you.

Re: Come on Equifax, Stop Smoking the Crack Pipe!

Thank you for the reply.

I suppose I should have asked if I was supposed to call Equifax, Cap 1, or both.

Thanks

Re: Come on Equifax, Stop Smoking the Crack Pipe!

I would call and when you get the nice person in India, you can explain your situation and when they give you the run around you can ask for a supervisor. When they say their supervisor is going to tell you the same thing they did just say thank you I'd like to talk to the supervisor anyway. When the nice Indian supervisor tells you the same thing the first nice Indian person did then you can ask to speak with the supervisor's supervisor. They will again tell you that their supervisor will just tell you the same thing, again thank them and ask them to speak with their supervisor anyway.

Now when you get the nice American supervisor on the phone, explain the situation for the 3rd time and request them to contact Capital One by phone if needed and to please re-insert the good account and remove the old one. This should be possible but my guess is it will still take you 2-3 days after your 45 min India/America phone call to them before it actually shows up on your report.

Re: Come on Equifax, Stop Smoking the Crack Pipe!

I've actually complained about not being able to understand one of the CSRs at EQ and asked to speak to someone else didn't matter supervisor or not. This lady actually told me and I quote, "I am certainly sure that you will be understanding me I am not working to help you with your problem."

I hung up the phone. She won. I waited an hour and called back. Good luck.

On the other hand I spoke with a CSR from Experian her name was "DEE" from the Trailblazer Team. She spoke terrific English and was probably in her late 50's I'd guess by the sound of her voice. When I was disputing incorrect personal information and trying to get it updated she got upset with me because I wouldn't take her canned answer of we can not update addresses and such as those are reported by your creditors. That is complete silliness I told her. I've since corrected it via the mail but she was rude when she got tasked and her final words I'll never forget. "Thank you for calling Experian please allow 5 to 7 days for the law to arrive." She then hung-up.

Now I'm assuming she meant she was sending me a copy of the Fair Credit Act, but just in case I ran out to my local donut shop and grabbed a couple dozen donuts to have on hand. You know just in case.

Geez these people who work there are amazing!

I do everything by mail now, no more will I be insulted by these CRAs who think we deserve to be treated like crap because we want them to report correct information on us.

Re: Come on Equifax, Stop Smoking the Crack Pipe!

It is frustrating.  Usually EQ has been very helpful with me.  For some reason I find them the easiest to work with and dispute.  Having said this, I might change my mind after talking with them tomorrow about this.

I just do not understand how they could delete a good account from my credit report, since I put all the account numbers and information concerning the one I needed corrected.  Anyone could see which one needed correcting.

Such is life.  Another week, another credit problem.

Re: Come on Equifax, Stop Smoking the Crack Pipe!

OK, I called EQ this morning and actually spoke to an American.  I think it is my lucky day, and I should buy a lottery ticket!

Anyway, he said that all I needed to do to get the Cap 1 account they wrongly removed off my record is to call Cap 1 and ask them to report it again.

Is this all I have to do?  The account that EQ removed will just be allowed back on the CR?

Sorry to ask, but it just seems too easy.  No long phone conversations or a pund of flesh.

Thanks
