Comenity Q

I have/had (deciding what tense to use is the point of this post) Comenity Sportingmans visa because my husband likes their camping supplies. During the Great Comenity Mass Closing of Dec 2015-Jan 2016, my balance and credit available both displayed "0" when I logged in. It also began reporting to the CBs as "account closed at grantir's request." Comenity sent a letter stating it had been closed. Nothing new here -- we know that story over and over.

However fast forward to today, I just logged in to see if I still could, in order to make sure there weren't any comenity finance charge shenanigans because I read some posts that concerned me about this. Oddly, my account page still shows balance at zero, which is correct, but also now shows Credit Available: 4000, my original issued credit limit. This account still shows "Closed" on my credit report.

What does the collective wisdom on this forum think? Should I close the account proactively myself? Call Comenity? Use it for a small online purchase to see if it really is open so it reports that way instead of "closed at grantor's request"?

Re: Comenity Q

I should add my credit scores are fine with no "baddies."

Re: Comenity Q

I think I've seen this reported before, and when others tried to use the account, it didn't work. It wouldn't hurt you call and verify it is closed, and if possible, get them to delete the access on line to the account.
