Could a open c/loan

My husbands scores have dropped and I am trying to figure out why. I know one reason is a collection account that appeared for $50.00 showed in dec which has been paid but they still have not reported it closed. the collection agency is telling me they report at the end of the month and its the bureaus fault. Called bureau they say the same so I have filed a dispute?
Also we have a car loan for 19k no lates, and then the one car we pif since April 07 still showing open will this affect his score? Haveing 38kin car loans showing as open I have filed the dispute to let them know that this is closed and should reflect this on his report.

Re: Could a open c/loan

clearing, firstly let the car loan stay on your cr! I had the same scenario last July. pif'd a car loan...it was still reporting positively. THEN I had the bright idea to dispute with the CRA's as 'paid', thinking it would help my scores if it was removed.

I couldn't have been more wrong! Scores dropped 32 points. Well, I also applied for a Chevron card but between the 2 the scores dropped.

Just paying off a collection will have no effect on the credit score. I know that is so illogical, but that's the way it works.

Even when the CRA's start reporting as collection - paid, that's still almost as bad as the collection itself.

Since it's paid, you can alway GW. Hopefully they will delete it from your records. That's what you want. They are not required to delete, but it's worth a try. Please know that it may not work.

Hope that helps
