I signed up for a credit card in Feb of this year. After the approval email, I got a little nervous as a few weeks went by and I didn't receive my card in the mail. Then I got an email about how it hasn't been activated and I could click on a link to send a new one. I did that and waited a little longer and still no card in the mail. So it was never received and never activated. The CC company then closed my account. On my CR for all 3 bureaus, it says "Opened 03/2021" and "Closed 04/2021". So I'm getting dinged for a recent tradeline and a recent inquiry, but no benefit as I never received the card or activated it.
I'm going to dispute it and request deletion, but I was just wondering if anyone else ever dealt with something similar and if anyone smarter than me could reference any policy or rule that ties non-activation of a CC to improper reporting on a CR. Thanks!
Don't dispute!! It will come back validated. Call lender and ask for supervisor. Do a direct dispute with them for resolution.

+1 As it stands, you did open the account in March and the lender did close it in April, so the reporting is correct as far as the credit bureaus are concerned, regardless of whether the card was ever activated or used. Who was the issuer for this card?

Thank you both. The issuer is Credit One.

That's what I was afraid of. I would still attempt to pursue the issue through them, including HUCA'ing after convo's with rep's who couldn't help or try to get you help, but with the level of customer service Credit One provides I wouldn't expect resolution, unfortunately.

If this doesn't get resolution I'd email CEO. Email can be found with search, and executive office is known to respond.

Got it, thank you. I will try that!
