Credit Cards

Hi, I'm new to posting here, but I've always used this forum to get questions answered concerning my credit. After rebuilding my credit and it taking such a long time, I began to receive credit card offers and because they were coming in so fast I was applying for them to rebuild. Now, I have 15 credit cards and I'm scared that this is too many. Can anyone give me some insight on this

Re: Credit Cards

Welcome again!! You keep coming back to the right place ☺. To be honest, it is up to you whether 15 cards are too many. What cards are worth having that you will use, as well as how does your finances relate to the cards? It is a learning experience and you will know fairly soon enough if you have cards that aren't of any use. The bigger thing is how quickly did you get all of these cards? If you got a bunch together with many inquiries, that could be a short term concern because lenders are seeing that you keep seeking credit as well as the impact of those inquiries in relation to new applications.

But 15 cards can certainly be managed. Heck, there are people with great profiles on here with easily more than double of that many cards lol. It is all on you and what you feel you can handle. If you got all or most of these cards around the same time amd recently, then if it were me, I would lay low and garden. Manage the cards you have and don't over extend yourself in spending on them.

Re: Credit Cards

Welcome to MyFICO and congrats on your successes.

You didn’t give us any info so I just want to provide, IMHO, a little insight.

Hopefully the majority of the cards are prime and not store cards.

If any is CreditOne, I would close since hopefully you have snagged better cards. Credit One is not worth the associated fees.

Try your best not to carry a balance on every single card.

Get in the habit of PIF.

Setup autopay if you haven’t already. You don’t want all of your hard work to go down the drain because you accidentally missed a payment.

If you do a BT on a 0% card, don’t use it for purchases unless it’s 0% for purchases too.

If you got 0% deferred interest, make sure the balance is paid in full one month prior to expiration.

If any of the due dates don’t coincide with your paychecks, you can ask for a different due date.

Keep a tab on rewards. I kept forgetting about Discover Deals, and now they’re no more 😫

Again congrats.

Re: Credit Cards

List details of all your cards and your monthly spending on each, the jury will help you decide which should go on the chopping block.
