Credit Karma's score arent a joke or a lie, they just happen to true Vantage 3.0 scores. Very different from Fico that for some can be many points higher or lower. Realizing this will save alot of soueness
Thomas_Thumb has said before the Vantage score is heavily used in the rental, and I think he meant apartments or houses, industry.
OP citi is a fico bankcard 08 on equifax. It is on a 250-900 point score and usually is a bit higher than fico08 which maxes out at 850. You can get a free to everyone monthly experian fico 08 score at creditscorecard.com, a site owned by discover. If you as you said....Anyways, I guess I'm gonna have to obsess over my FICO now and put CK in the backseat....make sure the backseat has good seatcovers or you might never get that smell out of the back seat. I personally would never haul trash in the backseat, but it is your car. All creditkarma is good for is to see any notable items on a credit report, The score nobody uses is only worth what you pay for it....nothing!!!
@Anonymous wrote:CK isn't worthless at all. Their TU/EQ reports are updated weekly and even more often if you have things changing on your report frequently. That for free is very valuable.
Their VS 3.0 scores are insignificant and unmeaningful, but their reports are an excellent tool.
I agree the reports are useful, and believe it or not, if a noteable credit event happens it notifies my e-mail before any others do. The score however is pretty useless.
Yes, CK is usually very quick with alerts. One of the biggest gripes from paying MF members is that they receive CK alerts often [days] before the same MF alerts.
It's unfortunate that people in the"building/rebuilding" phase often get lulled into a false sense of hope with CK's innaccurate scores. Leading to possible useless apps for an ultimate denial. But I do feel KC can be useful for monitering etc. As others have said.
Also keep in mind that a Lender's internal scoring method will sometimes differ from the score you expect, or that is stated by the bureaus.
Both Citi and Discover had me around 760, close to what CK was reporting. But just recently had my credit ran, and they reported it at 720 by theri model.

While I agree with your overall thesis here, I feel it's worth noting that CK's scores aren't "inaccurate." They are simply not FICO scores, but they are indeed accurate VS 3.0 scores that can match VS 3.0 scores from other sources like Chase Credit Journey, Credit Sesame, Capital One Credit Wise, etc. I would replace the word "inaccurate" with unmeaningful or irrelevant in most cases. Unfortunately, most people just getting into this game don't know the difference, so they see their CK score(s) as being "their [only] score" period end of statement. I know that's how I viewed them at first.

My fiance was telling me how super excited he was when he got a CK alert about his score going up. It showed his score as 750 and then he told me that he remembered what I said about CK scores not being "real" FICO scores and was totally bummed out. The funny thing is, he has great credit! He got an offer from AMEX for the Platinum AND Gold cards. He gets all sorts of pre-approvals in the mail from top tier lenders, and my scores are higher than his, yet I only get mailers from Credit One...
I'm a little jealous because he has a 120 day late on his profile that doesn't seem to be affecting him all that much, but when I had my 120 late, it was like I was the devil or something.
