Credit Report Question

There are 5 listings on my 3- bureau report that have no CA or OC listed.  Blank.  Just EFX, an amount and a date.  ??????

Re: Credit Report Question

Where did you pull the reports from and what is EFX?

Re: Credit Report Question

Is this EFX listed in the Creditors list at the end of your report?

Re: Credit Report Question

Coincidentally (or not), EFX is the stock symbol for Equifax. In what section of your reports are you finding these listings?

Re: Credit Report Question

It's the Bank of America Privacy Assist Credit Monitoring and Scores Profile.

Reporting Agencies:  XPN, EFX and TU.   (Xperian, Equifax and Trans Union).

Re: Credit Report Question

To keep everyone on their toes, and to avoid typing extra letters, the forums seem to have created our own abbreviations:

EQ = EFX = Equifax
TU = TU = TransUnion
EX = EXP = Experian

You can definitely see the potential for confusion with EX and EFX, and it happens a lot.

Anyway, mostly blank entries like this might be medical collections. Dunno why they would enter EFX, though. There is some sort of Equifax mortgage company that sometimes pops up as inquiries, but this sounds like a different area of the report.

Re: Credit Report Question

witout knowing what it is Im not sure how to respond.  If it's medical I would do the Pre HIPAA but but it's absolutely blank.  Just a date, an amount and the CRA.  Weird.  Not even a collection agency is listed.

Is it appropriate to send them a copy of thier own listing and ask wtf?  lol.....I'll use more tact then that Smiley Wink

Re: Credit Report Question

If you'd like more accurate feedback, please try to pull real credit reports, either free or paid via the bureaus, and start from the information contained there. Otherwise it's a guessing game.

Re: Credit Report Question

The reports that you get from BofA, TrueCredit, myFICO and others are secondary reports, derived from the mail reports maintained by each credit bureau. They're great for following report changes and all, but if something odd pops up, or something needs work, it's best to get your full report directly from each CRA. (Don't bother with their scores; just the reports.)

If you've never pulled your freebies, or haven't within the past 12 months, go to www.annualcreditreport.com (NOT freecreditreport!) and get them there. If you're not eligible for a freebie currently, you can buy a copy from each CRA. I think it ranges around $8 - 10/ pop; not positive.
