"myFICO 500"

So lets say you found this site when you were 17 and you learned most of what you could just reading the stickies and searching to answer any other questions you had. Now, sort of like professional racing, with out making any mistakes and applying for cards in the correct/timely order what is the highest score you could reach each year?

Basically if the day you turned 18: you got a secured card for six months then you graduated to the basic visa afterwards, and went and applied and got a store card. Now alternating back and forth between the two you apply for a third card six months after that. Now that a year and a half has passed what do you think the score would be(assuming no baddies)?

Sounds exciting. What possibilities!

I just "started" my own credit file last year... when I was thirty.

Ah, what could have been...

Re: "myFICO 500"

I'm going to guess at between 720-740. Only because history plays a big part in score.

Re: "myFICO 500"

I would agree 720-730 range after a year (age 19).

I actually got a Harris Bank Gold Visa with a $5,000 limit when I was 17.  Never did figure out how that happened since I wasn't an AU on any cards.  I did have a car loan in both mine and my dad's names from out CU at that point.

I guess getting a parent to be a cosigner on a loan could really kick start you as well.

Re: "myFICO 500"

OK, this is assuming 2 credit cards, nothing else for now, no lates or any blemishes, not carrying balances:

after 6 months: 660 - 680

after 12 months: 720 - 740 (go pick up another card)

after 24 months; 760's, but you might "need" an installment loan (student loan, auto loan, small signature loan from a bank or CU) to push you there.

Since you're in the enviable position of starting from scratch, you might want to read the FICO High Achievers thread linked in my siggy. Lots of info there from people at all different stages in their credit lives.
