So I see having a fraud alert on my reports is starting to work against me. Particularly with Comenity Bank. When they try to verify me by security questions, nothing they ask pertains to my file. I contacted Experian and they showed an erroneous social security number reporting on mine and they removed it. I subsequently had the fraud alert removed for now. Now, another company asked me questions, and the same thing happened. Only this time they used Equifax. I contacted Equifax and they didn't show anything except my credit cards. I keep getting asked about a mortgage, the amount, a car loan, pet insurance, and other things that I do not have. So of course when I answer none of the above I immediately get denied for not being able to verify my identity. What could these companies/banks be looking at that is showing someone else's info and not mine?? I don't even know who to contact any more. I also asked Equifax to remove the alert as well. I want to wait a week then see if there is still any problems. I had been approved for A&F card then after I applied for another Comenity Bank card and did not pass the security questions, they closed my A&F account!!
I've had fraud alerts on my reports when applying for cards and never had an issue. The questions they asked me were relevant to me. I can assure you the FA in itself isn't the reason behind the irrelevant questions. Is this an isolated issue with Comenity only or have you had it with more than 1 lender?
There are many things that can affect a credit report. The bank will sometimes see things that we don't on our reports. Also, an alert can trigger different types of security precautions. This is what I am trying to investigate. I am trying to get to the root.
