Credit Score discrepancy

After purchasing a 3-bureau credit report with credit scores thru the Experian website and after reviewing my results, my husband and I decided to apply for a Home Equity loan thru a local bank.  When the bank ran our credit against all three bureaus the scores came back 60 - 90 points lower across all three.  Upon questioning the bank about this they said just said this is what my FICO scores were.  I decided to pay for another 3-bureau credit report hours after the bank ran theirs and again my results were that the scores were 60-90 points higher.   We do NOT have any judgements, liens, bankrupcys, etc. etc. against us.  The bank is standing by their results.  Has anyone else experienced this?

The reports.....

from Experian, Transuion and Equifax are not "true" FICO scores.  They are Plus scores (at least from Experian) that show you how a lender would view you.  The only TRUE FICO scores are from this website.  I would suggest getting the FICO Deluxe to see what your actual FICO scores are and compare them against the 3-in-1.

Also note there may be a small discrepancy between the scores from myfico and from your lender, as the lender may be using a cusomized industry fico formula, rather than the generic one you get here. However, this differently should be small.

Plus scores are not used by any lenders really, and thus don't serve any real useful purpose other than perhaps let you get an idea of your own report better.

Lenders use different scoring models for different loans

credit cards use the backcard enhanced
car loans use auto enhanced
mortgages use (you guessed it, morgage enhanced)

scores can vary 100 points or more between the different scoring models....it's not unusual
