As most of you know from my previous posts, I am in the process of rebuilding my credit. I am currently at a 501 FICO however based on simulators and points I recently lost that should come back I expect a rapid increase back to around 600. This is important as I am waiting to be able to apply for financing for a engagement ring.

Typically I am patient enough to just wait and check my monthly report I recieve from my bank, but right now I would like to monitor it on a daily basis so I know exactly when I can go in an apply for financing. I am basically looking for something at $10-$15 a month that will update my score daily and that does not have a long term requirement (i.e. you have to commit to a year of membership). I want to be able to cancel it after a few months if I decide to.

What are my best options?

Thanks!

I don't think you'll find anything in that price range, but Experians credit tracker is $1 for the first 7 days, then $20 per month for each bureau. Pick your middle score and track that one. Experian lets you pull a new score daily.

Thanks, Norman. Is this something I could cancel within the first 7 days if I decide against it? Or will I be tied into a full membership after the 7 days is up?

Yes, you can cancel within the 7 days. I made the mistake of cancelling on the 7th day, but they had already billed me for the first month. Its month to month so you can cancel at anytime.

Re: Credit Tracker

I know that AAA offers ProtectMyID Essential with my membership and Navy Federal Credit Union offers Equifax Bronze Shield for $2 month, Gold Shield $6 month, and Platinum Shield $9 month discounts for members. I also have the Capital One credit tracker.

Are there any other memberships, cards, banks, credit unions that offer free or discounts reports, scores, or monitoring?

Re: Credit Tracker

I just called and complained about the price, they lowered it to $9.95/month. I also cancelled my Amex CreditSecure and myfico tracking. For now I'll just track the Experian score and I'll look at the other bureaus again when I get out of the garden in a good long while.

They lowered to $9.95 "for six months" with some catch that I have to call back in december or they'll silently raise the price on me -- put a note in my calendar to call them and cancel again before that date Smiley Happy
