Re: Credit Utilization -> Can it be TOO low?

Thanks for all the feedback. Sounds like I'll just leave everything as-is.

I guess my last question, since it sounds like I probably want to keep my older department store credit cards (which I never use) on my account since they were all opened around 96-2000.....

-Should I try & use those department store credit cards once each, pay off the balances, and then store them for another 5-7 years?

Tnx again

Forgive my ignorance, but dust them off every 6 months meaning use them every 6 months?

Re: Credit Utilization -> Can it be TOO low?

Some more suggestions:

I would advise closing some of those department store cards--you have enough utilization, you don't need them for that. Closing them will not hurt your score, because they will remain on your CR as "closed accounts" They will still be helping your average age, because they will still list as cards that were opened a long time ago

We're all human--and life happens too fast, or shall I say, Life is too short to worry about what old CC to dust off and use every six months. If I were you I'd just stick with 5 or less cards and have 2 or them report balances at a time.

Plus who likes walking around with a Big fat wallet full of CC's, or maintaining a sock drawer with cards that you rotate in and out?
