Ok I have a question. I subscribe to all the free places that give you a "score" most only update once a month unless you pay a monthly fee. Today I logged into credit.com and it showed my credit score as 754! Which is by far the highest score I have ever had since I have been on the path to rebuilding my credit. Let me give a little background. I recently paid all my balances off and I was also able to remove all negative information from all 3 credit bureaus. And I have a nice mix of accounts so what I am asking is should I totally disregard this score as "fake" or is there some basis in fact that it may reflect where my score is now?
I just went to my Barclays account which I didn't know gave a FICO score and it said my score was 731 so I am guessing that the score from Credit.com is a little high but this is still awesome this is the first time my score has been in the 700's!! I am pumped!!!

Keep in mind, however, Barclay's score is from TransUnion whereas the score from Credit.com is Experian's "National Equivalency Score". There may be factors considered in one that are not factored into the other.
Even though the Credit.com score is a FAKO, I find it helpful for monitoring trends.

I would disregard FAKO scores.
However, if you've dealt with derogatories and utilization, then a FICO score like 731 does seem plausible.

"Fake" and "real" aren't useful ways to look at things IMO. Even FAKO's are real scores based on data in your credit reports. They're just not the FICO's that creditors use and there is no causal relationship between a given FAKO and a given FICO model.
Models are accurate for their own models and that's it. Where it becomes an issue is when one tries to assume that score XXX using model Y will mean anything with regard to the score generated by model Z. Different models can produce different scores even if they use the same data source with data from the same date/time.
While your Credit.com FAKO certainly indicates that your credit improved it doesn't necessarily tell you what your score will be using any other scoring model. It also doesn't tell you anything about your scores based on data from the other CRA's.
For what it's worth, here are MY credit.com FAKO scores vs. myFICO scores:
Credit.com generates credit scores from EXPERIAN credit reports. Data below is all Experian.
DATE Credit.com FAKO myFICO
June 2013 789 785
Sept. 2013 782 782
Nov. 2013 795 778
Feb. 2014 800 784
For ME, I'm getting a fairly accurate correlation between the two scoring methods, ranging from "dead-on" to an almost 20 point deviation! Looks good, but might be due to minimal activity in my Experian credit record. Also, look at November where my FICO score dropped a bit (4 points) while the FAKO score increased by 13 points! Hard to say what would happen if my EX credit report was to drastically change.
Or course, someone else will undoubtedly have completely different results with a similar myFICO Experian score!
I'm having the exact opposite experience with credit.com scores. This is my lowest score at 695 although the scoring model gives me A's in every area except utilization which is a C+. I started at 657 and all that has changed is utilization dropping each month. My FICO scores range from 734, 744, to 781 depending on who is reporting it.
My credit.com score has always been in line with my EX fico score. As of today, my Credit.com score is 840 and my Fico is 842. I just noticed today that the Credit.com score range is 360-840, slightly different than ficos score range.
