Credit file for authorized user with no other activity?

Howdy folks,

I recently (October 28th to be exact) added a friend as an authorized user on my Barclays Uber card.  All went well and we received the card, there was a hiccup due to me entering the wrong address, I actually got no email about it but when I went to check the authorized user settings there was red text stating I needed to update his info or my account may end up locked, I noticed this on 11/20 but it could have been in that state for longer.

Prior to this he had no credit activity in any form, no loans etc, so he had no credit file at all and it wasn't possible to pull a report for him, no surprise there, but we've been trying to check his report using credit karma and pull free reports every week or so, but all are still erroring the same way.

Am I just being impatient?  I was under the impression credit file updates RE: becoming an Authorized User and having that account history show up on your report was a rather quick process in comparison to other credit file changes (new regular accounts, etc), but due to my overthinking nature I've become worried/suspect that no file will establish for him unless he has "proper" credit activity (his own actual account) first

Any advice on this would be appreciated, thanks!

Good info to know!  I'll report back if/when the report finally shows for the sake of letting others know a timeframe, thanks for the info Smiley Happy

As an aside, I am curious as to what he is attempting to accomplish by establishing a credit report that contains no information related to his own credit history/risk evaluation.

To any prospective creditor pulling his credit report/score, if they do a manual review and see that the AU is the only information reporting to his credit file/report, it would be a totally useless report or score, and they would be unlikely to make any credit decisions based on such a report or score.

By definition, a reported AU account is the entry of  information of another consumer's credit history, and not of the consumer who is showing the AU.

If that is the only account showing in a consumer's report, that by definition means that the report has NO bearing upon the credit history of that consumer.

Does he plan upon using his credit report/score for credit application purposes after the AU is entered?

If so, it is not likely to do any good unless the prospective creditor does not do a review of his credit report, and only looks at his score....

Nope, we're not looking to do much with it, I'm more gauging if things "worked correctly" via a credit file establishing or not..
