Credit inquiries

Hi guys, does anyone know if credit inquiries post to ones credit report in real time? For example if an inquiry was made today could I see it on my report tomorrow? What about Chex Systems?

Re: Credit inquiries

From what I've noticed, from personal experience, most HP Inquiries show up in real time. There is the occasional creditor that may take a day or two to post it, especially if manual underwriting is required. Just my two cents. Smiley Happy

Re: Credit inquiries

No, not all post in real time. If you're more specific about what creditors you're inquiring about we can be more helpful.

Re: Credit inquiries

I should clarify that I only have experience with Capital One, Bank of America, AMEX, and Discover. I'm not sure which creditor you may be referring to.

Re: Credit inquiries

It's been my experience that most HP's appear on one's credit report within 24 to 36 hours, and sometimes almost immediately, judging from the alerts I get from various credit-monitoring sites.

Re: Credit inquiries

I encourage our OP and the responders to sharply distinguish two questions.

If I have two inquiries, one at 11 am and the next at 1 pm.....

(a) How likely is it that the 11 am inquiry will be visible to the creditor who pulls my report at 1 pm?

(b) How long will my credit monitoring tool (CMT) take to tell me via an alert about the 11 am inquiry?  (Credit Karma, myFICO Ultimate, Credit Check Total, etc. are all CMTs.)

The two questions are very different.  A new inquiry might be on your reports and yet a particular CMT might easily take two days to notify you.

Question (b) cannot be used to answer question (a).

Re: Credit inquiries

Inquiries are in realtime, a lender pulling at 1pm will see the inquiry done at 11pm by another lender, which lenders did the pulls has no bearing on when it makes onto your report, as soon as it's pulled it's on your report, you would see this if you have subscriptions with the CRAs directly. How quickly 3rd parties monitoring services update the inquiry is a different story. Chexsystems' inquiries are also instant.

Re: Credit inquiries

Thanks for the responses. I should clarify my post...... I have recently had my identity compromised and have pulled my 3 credit reports and chexsystems report. Can I be confident that all hard/soft pulls up till today’s date are reflected in said reports? I have since placed security freezes on all.

Yes on HPs but no on SPs, lenders and credit monitoring services that you have current relationships with can still SP for the most part even if the reports are frozen.

Re: Credit inquiries

So soft pull don’t post in real time like hard pulls? I understand that existing accounts can still pull for review etc. I just want to be confident that ALL pulls up till today as I look at my current report are reflected in real time.
