Credit one wouldn’t take my money

I wanna start off by saying I know how everyone here feels about credit one, and I'm not a big fan either. My plan is to cancel the card once I add another card or two to my profile. So getting rid of the card is already in the works and I'm not looking for this to become a thread on bashing credit one. We all know how bad they are.this thread is simply about the insanity of this particular situation.

Credit one charges their annual fee in monthly installments, we all know why they do this. In any case, the fee gets charged right before the statement cuts. Which makes it impossible for the card to report $0 balance for AZEO.

so i called them up and said I'm looking to pay my annual fee for the year all at once and they wouldn't let me,

so then I asked if they could charge the fee on a different day each month and they couldn't do that.

they finally ended up waiving the monthly fee for the next 6 months. They would rather waive the fee, then allow me to pay it all at once or change the date the fee hits my account...

don't get it

Re: Credit one wouldn’t take my money

Yea reading that back I guess my wording was a bit confusing. But I think you know what I was trying to say,

I was trying to say that it's pretty well known they don't have the best reputation especially on this forum, and I know I should close the card, and it's already in my plans to do so.

but this situation genuinely confused me because in this case I was trying to give them money, but they would rather waive the fee. I wasn't necessarily trying to bash them, I was just more confused at the situation and how to rectify it. I have seen plenty of posts about how they have ridiculous fees and what not, but this one threw me a bit.

I've never paid a credit card that way but it makes sense. Thanks

Re: Credit one wouldn’t take my money

I just tried to set up my accounts for bill pay through my bank and it won't let me add the accounts it keeps giving me an error. Not sure what I'm doing wrong but I'll head into a branch tomorrow and see what they can tell me

Re: Credit one wouldn’t take my money

@SRT4kid93  you are actually making it a lot harder than it really is. I have two Credit One cards, the Wander ($3k) and X5 Platinum ($2.5k) each with a $95 AF but unlike you, it's only billed once a year. I actually got hit with the fee just a few days ago. Here is what I always do - before that happens, I push $95 from my bank's Bill Pay service which creates a credit balance on the Credit One account. When the statement closes and the AF gets charged simultaneously, with the existing credit balance it becomes a wash and I end up with a $0 statement balance. That's the trick and I attached a screenshot for you. You can also use this same technique for times you think you may be hit with an interest charge at statement closing assuming you wanna keep a $0 balance. PS: Credit One is actually good at waiving AF. I technically never paid them a dime in AF cos they always refund the full amount whenever I ask. Hope this helps!
