CreditKeeper

Anyone use CreditKeeper? I just received an offer from Orchard Bank to join CK for $9.95/month. I thought it should be OK and cheaper than TC, so before I join thought I would ask here any good, bad, ugly opinions of them. Thanks

Re: CreditKeeper

I used them for a little bit.. they're not bad I guess.... all their scores are FAKO though and can not be relied upon for anything.

CreditKeeper bites.

Although it is cheap, you can only pull your 3-bureau report every 30 days.  Also, they are very slow in sending alerts and apparently only scan for changes on your EX report and ignore EQ and TU.  Further, their score prediction tools are lame.

CreditKeeper seems to be a dumbed down version of various EX credit monitoring services.  I'd spend the extra $5 or so and go with EX's CreditExpert.  You can pull unlimited EX reports and also pull a free 3-bureau once a month.  Their score tools are also good.  Only drawback is they provide FAKO scores.  But then so does CreditKeeper.

Re: CreditKeeper

Go for CreditCheckTotal ($20/mo) or CreditSecure ($12/mo) if you have a card issued by American Express.

They have daily pulls from all 3 bureaus.

Don't get ripped off by paying $10/mo or more for a service that only lets you see your report monthly.

If you only need your report every 30 days then search Google for a discount link for Citi IdentityMonitor for $4.95/mo.

Re: CreditKeeper

I tried Credit Keeper (free for first 30 days).  I was told I would have unlimited credit pulls, but that's not true.  You can only pull your reports once every 30 days.  I cancelled - I find ScoreWatch on myfico much better - gives you true fico scores and the score simulator is excellent.  (It's, I think, $9.99 a month).  The thing I did like about Credit Keeper is it gave me something of a feeling of what my Experian FAKO score is - a good reference point.  I only pulled it once (during the free for first 30 days) and that's good enough for me.  I'll definitely stick with ScoreWatch on myfico.com.  Hope that helps.

Oh, and another thing, CreditKeeper recommendations on how to improve your score are not in keeping with the recommendations you receive through ScoreWatch and myfico.  Other posters have noted that some recommendations you receive through FAKO sites may not help, and may actually hurt your score.  So, I'm definitely sticking with ScoreWatch for the scores AND the recommendations on how to keep the score up.

Re: CreditKeeper

I'm so happy I came across this thread.  I was offered a free 30 day trial when I called to activate my HSBC card.  I've been using for about one week - I'm not thrilled with it, my FAKOS are 80 to 100 pts OFF my TU & EQ scores (really bad), their recommendations to help my score differs from what I've been told otherwise and their simulator is not user friendly.  I'll be canceling the trial shortly. I WAS wondering how scorewatch on My Fico was..
